DT Project Heartfelt Creations Ornament Medallion Bauble Hanging

Good Morning,

This month the design team at Creative Expressions have been working with two gorgeous stamp sets: Let it Snow from Creative Expressions and Ornament Medallion from Heartfelt Creations.  I am featuring my first contribution today made with the beautiful Ornament Medallion stamp set.  I really enjoyed making this hanging bauble, although it was a little labour intensive.  I intend to put up a picture tutorial to make a similar bauble with the same stamp set, but a little less work and a different colourway.  Here is what you will need to make the hanging bauble featured here.  Most of these products are available from Creative Expressions.

Supplies.

White cardstock
Adirondack dye based inks, Raisin and Bottle Green.
Cosmic Shimmer Gold Embossing Powder
A Sparkle or Glittery Embossing Powder.
Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue
A glue gun (optional but preferable)
Spellbinders Heirloom Ornaments, 2012 1nd 2010
Spellbinders largest Scalloped Oval
Stickles: Diamond
Colourised white tulle or coloured if you have it (enough to cut five Spellbinders  large scalloped ovals
Crafters Companion Stick n Spray or any other non permanent spray adhesive.
Creative Expressions Fancy Pearls (for the centre)
Green Bakers Twine
Ribbon for hanging the ornament

Method

Choose two designs from the larger stamps in the set that you want to work with.
Stamp (15 times) and emboss using Adirondack Raisin and Cosmic Shimmer Gold Embossing Powder.  Stamp and emboss (15 times) using Bottle Green and your glittery embossing powder.  Cut 5 each from any plain unstamped cardstock of the 2012 and 2010 ornaments.   Using your Spellbinders Die Ornaments match the die to the design carefully and run them through your machine.  Distress the die cuts after you cut with your inks while they are still in the dye, so you have a nice white ridge around the edges. (embossing is optional but obviously will make the process a lot longer).  Score and fold all the ornaments at the centres.  Using three of the stamped and cut dies, start by adhering the backs of the first two ornaments together but do not stick the first and third dies together, these should now be stuck to your plain, unstamped die cut so that they now have a flat back on each section.  Continue until you have 10 sections (5 of each design), each comprising three die cuts.   Spray a scrap of cardstock large enough to fit your scalloped oval, with spray adhesive and stick your tulle to the cardstock.  This will ensure that the tulle cuts cleanly.  If you only have white tulle, you can colourise the tulle when it comes out of the die cutting machine by using your distress inks or Adirondacks.  Cut five large Scalloped Ovals from tulle.  Now cut yourself a circle about 2 ½ inches, which will be the anchor for the sections of the ornaments.  Arrange five of one design around the circle and when happy with the arrangement, stick the sections, using a glue gun or PVA glue to the circle.  Next, arrange the remaining five sections between the first five and glue.  Finally, arrange your tulle between the sections and then add your centre pearl, some Stickles and some Bakers Twine, wrapped around the edges of five of the sections.  Fold and adhere a piece of ribbon to the back of the ornament so you can hang it.

The tutorial that follows later this week will be pictorial and give you a better idea of the construction.  Hope you like it and enjoy the rest of your day.  Tomorrow I will be featuring my second DT project for this month, using Creative Expressions’ stamp set Let it Snow, so please do drop by.  See you then and have a great day.  So glad that Barack made it – aren’t you?  Congratulations Barack Baby!

Hi Lilygees,

Oh how wonderful such a pretty decoration. A good example of how a stamp can become more than just a stamp a bit like spellbinders dies.

We should all really play and look differently at our rubber stamps and dies.

Thanks for popping by my blog today.
