Just a Note

Good Afternoon Dear Blog Friends.

Please forgive me for not posting when I said I would two days ago; some urgent things came up and I wasn't able to keep my promise.  I hope you are all having a good day and managing to get some lovely crafty projects made.  I have just received some beautiful stamps by Papermania and cannot wait to make a project or two with them.

For today, I have made a Spellbinders card but I also painted the birds, the  butterfly, the frame edge and the plain printed background card  with Pebeo's Fantasy Prisma paints. When I say painted, that's not strictly true at all because this paint is basically dropped on to your media and spread around.  To do this you can use a cocktail stick but I prefer to use a very fine crochet hook as it gives you a lot more control over where you put the paint.  As you can see (this shows most clearly on the birds) you can achieve an interesting effect without actually doing anything.  The paints are fabulous and can be used on many surfaces although they are not water based and do give off a fairly strong odour.  They make plain backgrounds come alive although these pictures don't really show how nice the paint looks on the background; they give an embossed look to the card.  I have also painted a Spellbinder frame with them and will post it up in the next few days to show you more of the effects.  If you want to use them like glass paints with cerne relief paste they will give you wonderful results with very little effort.

Here's a close up of the bird.

I used the largest die from Spellbinders Detailed Scallop Die and a smaller die from Spellbinders Matting Basics B 5x7 to make a frame - you cannot see very much of it because I used a fair bit of fancy lace from my stash, but I threaded some American seam binding in mimi brown through the holes.  I made some rolled roses and wrapped them in crumpled and distressed tissue paper and added some other colours of seam binding to them.  The birds were cut from the Spellbinders Bird Sanctuary Set. The sentiment comes from Creative Expressions Special Sentiments Stamp Plate. I added some pearls to the project.

Hope to post again tomorrow so please drop by again.
