DT Project for Creative Expressions; Masquerade

Hello Bloggers,

The design team for Creative Expressions is currently working with two really gorgeous stamp sets; If the Crown Fits  and  Masquerade.  My project for today  uses the beautiful and versatile Masquerade; it can be used for a variety of occasions and even for Christmas if you are planning a little party and want to have a fun   Christmas Masquerade Ball.

The background and small face mask on the corner of the card were made using cleaned egg shells, alcohol inks and mica pigments.  The egg shells are soaked for a few hours in very hot water with a little anti- bacterial cleaner or bleach.  The membrane of the egg will then come out if you scrap gently with your nail.  The egg shells must then be left to dry completely and they will be 'crispy' and ready to use for the project.  First I put a coat of black gesso on to a chipboard background and cut the small mask using several layers of cardstock stuck together.  When dry I applied the egg shells using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue.  The glue is applied gradually as you add the egg shells, pressing down and cracking them into the glue.  Once you get going it doesn't take too long.  Next apply the inks, I used Adirondacks Currant, Meadow and Stonewash but you can use whatever colours you like.  When dry I applied some Cosmic Shimmer mica powders; there is a large range and you can choose whatever suits your project.  Finally I added a coat of Ranger Glossy Accents.  I cut two Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles, chopped them in half and positioned them around the edge of the next layer.  A piece of black cardstock was stamped with the feather stamp from Masquerade using Clear Perfect Medium and then adding mica powders.  The central mask was stamped with Adirondack Denim and cut out and layered onto one of  Spellbinders Floral Ovals.  I added a flower made with Spellbinders Grand Peonies, stamped and cut three feathers for the small corner mask and added some embellishments.  The sentiment was stamped and cut using the third largest of Spellbinders Labels 14 and one of the smaller  dies from Spellbinders Venetian Motifs.
