Spellbound Cottage

Good Morning,

So happy to be with you this morning and hope you are all well.  Today’s post has been called Spellbound Cottage but it might have been even more aptly named as D-Lites Cottage since I’ve used quite a few of the D-Lites from Spellbinders.  These dies are cute and have possibilities and because I have a set just sitting at home and many people are now starting to collect them, I thought it would be a good idea to start looking at them and seeing what we might achieve with them.  For this particular cottage project here are the dies used:

Spellbinders D-Lites Flower Burst
Spellbinders D-Lites Windows 1 and 2

I enjoyed doing this project and since it was the first of a kind I had attempted, I realized as I was doing it, that there could be many variations and even a 3-d cottage so I am planning to do more; bearing in mind that the season is upon us I thought a Christmas cottage would be great – what do you think?  Let me know.

The cottage walls and roof were embossed with Spellbinders M-Bossabilities Bricks and Bark.  The door was made by cutting four of window 1, snipping off the ornate side parts on one side of two of the dies and snipping of all the ornate parts on the other two dies.  I then inked with Distress Ink (Black Soot) and embossed with a Cosmic Shimmer metallic embossing powder (Arctic Black Aurora).  After cutting and embossing window 2 (for the windows) I backed them onto white cardstock and cut around the window frame and inked them lightly.  If you wanted to, you could stamp or draw onto the card to create an inside scene. I stamped and cut out a cat (no home is complete without one!) and added some flowers outside against the walls and on top of the door. I could have gone on and decorated the outside of the house; there are many possibilities.  Hope you like it.  Although this is for someone moving home I think it would serve for a variety of occasions.

Have a great day and I will be back tomorrow with a Designer Team make using those lovely Ornamental Medallion Christmas stamps from Heartfelt Creations.

This is a fantastic card with lots and lots of detail. The work you have put in was well worth it. I have been asked to do a card for someone who will be having their first Christmas in their new home and your card has given me a bit of inspiration, so thank you very much and I look forward to your next post. Love Helen
